Glycemic Flex
Over time, multiple types of diets have been created, also referred to by various names: the Mediterranean diet, the Keto diet, the Dukan diet, the Atkins diet, and probably dozens or hundreds of others. Many of these have yielded varying degrees of success, but in the past, the times didn’t allow for a completely tailored diet for each individual’s body. Humans are omnivorous organisms that physiologically require all types of foods, and if there are dietary habits in the sense of wanting to give up certain foods, their constituents must be replaced with supplements; otherwise, the body may experience deficiencies that disrupt health. A completely tailored diet means predominantly consuming foods that suit each individual because each body is different from all others, just as people are different from each other. Certain foods may cause weight gain in some individuals while not affecting others. Nowadays, thanks to technology and modern techniques, we can detect in real time which foods are harmful to us and the quantities in which they are harmful.
The state of overweight or obesity arises from two independent or combined reasons. The first is poor nutrition, where we consume quantities of sugar with a substance called glucose, which constantly raises blood sugar levels from month to month and from year to year. Glucose, not being consumed by the body, is transformed every day into small amounts of fat that accumulate. In most cases, this phenomenon is combined with a sedentary lifestyle because movement and physical exercise are fueled by glucose, and if movement, effort, and physical exercise are reduced or stopped, then the amount of glucose in the blood will be higher, and the transformation into fats, which also accumulate, will increase. These increases in glucose and fat deposits inevitably lead over time first to Metabolic Syndrome, known by some as pre-diabetes, and then to diabetes accompanied by obesity, which occurs long before diabetes.
The other common reason leading to overweight and obesity, which can be independent of sugar consumption and sedentary lifestyle, is the hormonal imbalance of various glands such as the thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, and others. The most severe cases of obesity, i.e., the highest grades 3 and 4 or morbid obesity, are usually caused by the combination of all these factors: poor nutrition combined with a sedentary lifestyle and hormonal imbalance, all together. However, the most frequent cases of overweight and then obesity are due to dietary causes combined with sedentarism.
The hormonal component is very important, and a fundamental aspect is that it can be involved in the pathway leading to metabolic syndrome and diabetes, and implicitly to overweight and obesity, simply because hormones are not permanently deregulated but are rather frequently disrupted by the state of stress and anxiety, which alter the secretion of these hormones on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, meaning the relationship between the brain and the gland that becomes deregulated in stress. For this reason, a tranquil mental state is necessary for a harmonious body.
The simplest way to solve a problem is to detect how a mechanism broke down and to reverse engineer the solution. If certain foods have upset our metabolism, we will eliminate them. If certain quantities have upset our metabolism, we will decrease them. If we find that our daily activity level has been deficient, we will increase it to the minimum threshold necessary.
Why do I believe that Glycemic Flex is one of the most advanced lifestyles, combining nutrition, exercise, and mental status? Because it operates on a Pavlovian reflex learning mechanism, where each individual learns by receiving guidance on what harms and benefits them, how much exercise they need, and seeing how this system affects their mental state. It relies on a few basic rules, a list of foods, and some cutting-edge technological devices that constantly show us our nutritional status, what harms us, what doesn’t, in what quantities, and when we need to exercise. After a few months of implementation, we know exactly, for example, what we should eat and what not to, and how much we need to move. Exercise shouldn’t scare us because the level of effort is our choice, from high to very low. We won’t suffer from hunger, that’s for sure, but we’ll simply adapt on the go to our physiological peculiarities, the dietary requirements of our body, and the amount of daily movement needed.
Glycemic Flex recommends simple unprocessed foods and straightforward culinary recipes for the simple reason that complexity can contain hidden sugars, carbohydrates, or other dietary constituents that may cause blood sugar spikes or hormonal imbalances without our knowledge. Glycemic Flex does not involve weighing or calorie counting; it is a food list with many items and continuously updated with others, a set of under 10 dietary rules that you will learn on the first day and maintain through a few simple methods to keep certain biological parameters within limits. Exercise is distributed. However, Glycemic Flex cannot be sustained if we desire to eat two chocolates in a day and not even take a few thousand steps as a simple effort to regulate energy metabolism with a few hundred calories. The method is suitable for all ages, and depending on personal dedication, you can range from good to fit and even cut with minimum fat layer.
